f(x) = 4x2 − 5x + 1, g(x) = 2x − 1

Step 1: Convert g(x) to (x – a) form

2x − 1 = 0

x = `1/2`

Step 2: Calculate the remainder

f(x) = 4x2 − 5x + 1

f`(1/2) = 4(1/2)^2 - 5(1/2) + 1`

= `4(1/4) - 5/2 + 1`

= `1- 5/2 + 1`

= `2 - 5/2`

= `4/2 - 5/2`

= `-1/2`
