Solution

Given: Origin O = (0, 0), point P = (a, –b).

Distance formula: `d = sqrt((x_2 - x_1)^2 + (y_2 - y_1)^2`.

So, from origin `d = sqrt(a^2 + (-b)^2)`.

Simplify: `d = sqrt[a^2 + b^2)`.

Distance from the origin to `(a, -b) = sqrt(a^2 + b^2)`.
