Two elements in the same position : demerit of Newland’s octaves : : place for Isotopes : Demerits of Mendeleev’s periodic table

Explanation:

Just as placing two elements in the same position was a known limitation (demerit) of Newland’s Law of Octaves, the inability to provide a distinct, separate place for isotopes (atoms of the same element with different atomic masses) was a significant demerit of Mendeleev’s periodic table. Because Mendeleev arranged elements by increasing atomic mass, he could not logically accommodate isotopes in his classification system.
