Find `bb(dy/dx)` in the following:

2x + 3y = sin y

Solution

2x + 3y = sin y

Differentiating both sides for x,

⇒ `2 d/dx (x) + 3 d/dx (y) = d/dx(sin y)`

⇒ `2 xx 1 + 3 dy/dx = cos y`

⇒ `2 = cos y dy/dx - 3 dy/dx`

⇒ `2 = dy/dx (cos y - 3)`

∴ `dy/dx = 2/(cos y - 3)`
