Solution
The constraints of filling openings for various employment positions from within the organization (internal source of recruitment) are as follows:
- Restricted Choice: Internal recruitment limits the enterprise's alternatives and freedom in selecting the best individuals for available positions. It has a narrow base. The company may have to compromise on the quality of its candidate selection.
- Inbreeding: If an organization relies too much on internal recruitment, it is denying itself fresh talent and "new blood" from outside sources. Existing personnel, even if promoted or transferred, may continue to work and behave in the same unchanging manner.
- Absence of Competition: In the lack of qualified candidates from outside, employees can expect immediate promotion based on seniority and a sure prospect. As a result, they may lose motivation to prove their worth.
- Conflict: There is a risk of conflict and infighting among employees vying for promotion to open positions. Those who are not promoted are dissatisfied, and their productivity may suffer as a result.
