Given:

sin 48° ⋅ sec 42° + `(sec 50°)/("cosec" 40°)`

Step 1: 

sec 42° = `1/(cos 42°)`

cos 42° = sin 48°

sin 48° ⋅ sec 42° = `(sin 48°)/(cos42°) = (sin48°)/(sin 48°) = 1`

Step 2:

cosec 40° = `1/(sin 40°) = 1/(cos 50°)`

`(sec 50°)/("cosec" 40°) = (1/(cos 50°))/(1/(cos 50°)) = 1`

1 + 1 = 2
