We know, that for a point charge Q
Electric potential ,`V=Q/(4pi in_0r) or V ∝ 1/r`
and
Electric field, `E = Q/(4piin_0r^2) or E ∝ 1/r^2`
Thus, electric potential shows an inverse relationship while electric field shows a inverse square relationship with r.
