Solution

Standardisation involves creating specific standards that manufactured goods must meet and ensuring that these goods actually comply with these standards. However, agricultural products are difficult to standardise completely because of natural variations. As a result, grading is used for such products. Grading is the practice of categorising products into defined groups or lots based on predetermined criteria. For example, apples can be sorted into categories like best, medium, and average depending on factors such as size, colour, ripeness, and freshness.

Labelling involves attaching labels or identification marks to a package. Labels provide product-related details like weight, size, price, manufacturing date, and expiry date. They can be a part of the package itself or added as tags. Labels help indicate the product’s brand, grade, and quality. They may also include instructions for opening and handling the product.
