It ensures that the government works within the Constitution and reflects the views of the people. It also discusses policies and contributes to the development of the country.
2. The Parliament promotes accountability through debates, discussions and procedures such as Question Hour, where Members of Parliament ask ministers questions about government decisions and actions. This makes the government answerable to the people. It also encourages participation by giving representatives from different regions and sections of society an opportunity to raise public concerns and issues.
