Solution

Given:

  • AB = 5 cm
  • BC = 6 cm
  • AC = 6.5 cm (diagonal)

Step-wise Construction:

  1. Draw the line segment BC = 6 cm.
  2. With B as the center and radius = 5 cm, draw an arc above BC.
  3. With C as the center and radius = 6.5 cm, draw another arc to intersect the first arc. Mark the point of intersection as A.
  4. Join A to B (AB = 5 cm) and A to C (AC = 6.5 cm).
  5. With A as center and radius = 6 cm (equal to BC), draw an arc on the right side of A.
  6. With C as center and radius = 5 cm (equal to AB), draw another arc to cut the previous arc at point D.
  7. Join AD and CD.

ABCD is the required parallelogram with given sides AB = 5 cm, BC = 6 cm and diagonal AC = 6.5 cm.
