Solution

Steps of Construction:

  • Draw AB = 6 cm.
  • At A, draw a perpendicular to AB and cut AC = 4.5 cm on it. Join BC.
  • Draw a perpendicular bisector of AC to get the midpoint O.
  • With centre O and radius OC, draw the circle.
  • Join BO.
  • Draw a perpendicular bisector of BO to get the midpoint M.
  • With centre M and radius MB (or MO), draw a circle cutting the given circle at P and Q.
  • Join BP and BQ. These are the required tangents.
