Akbar promoted religious harmony by abolishing jizya and pilgrimage taxes, ending forced conversions, and inviting scholars of all faiths to debates in the Ibadat Khana. He honoured Hindu customs, appointed Hindus to high offices, translated Sanskrit texts into Persian, and promoted sulh-i-kul and encouraged interfaith respect, even founding the Din-i-Ilahi.
