प्रश्न
What should be the ratio of the speed of light through the liquid to the speed through the glass so that there is no refraction of light at the boundaries of the glass block when the system is illuminated by the light of one colour?

उत्तर
Since there is no refraction of light at the boundaries of the glass block, it is possible only when the speed of light through the liquid as well as through the block is the same. Hence the ratio between the speed of light through the liquid to the speed of light through glass must be 1 (one).

After tracing the path of a ray of light passing through a rectangular glass slab for four different values of the angle of incidence, a student reported his observations in tabular form as given below:
| S.No | ∠ i | ∠ r | ∠ e |
| I | 30° | 19° | 29° |
| II | 40° | 28° | 40° |
| III | 50° | 36° | 50° |
| IV | 60° | 40° | 59° |
The best observation is
(A) I
(B) II
(C) III
(D) IV
Why is the ratio of the velocities of light of wavelengths 4000Å and 8000Å in vacuum 1: 1?
Trace the path of a ray of light incident at an angle of 45° on a rectangular glass slab. Write the measure of the angle of refraction, the angle of emergence and the lateral displacement suffered by the ray as it passes through the slab.
Rewrite the following statement by selecting the correct option:
If a ray of light strikes a glass slab at an angle of 600 with the surface of the slab, the angle of incidence must be __________________.
State the factors on which the angle of deviation depends.
What is the refractive index of water
Draw ray of light bending towards the normal while passing from glass to water. Label your diagrams.
The figure shows two prisms A and B. A monochromatic ray of light PO is incident at the face of the prism A. Complete the diagram to show the path of the ray till it emerges out of the prism B.

How does the angle of deviation produced by a prism depend on the angle of incidence of light at the prism surface? Draw a graph to illustrate your answer.
