A convex mirror always forms a virtual and an upright image. So,
m = `-"v"/"u"`
∴ `-"v"/"u"` = `1/3`
∴ v = `-1/3"u"`
But , u is always negative
∴ v = `1/3"u"`
∴ u = 3v
