Define the term health education.

Health education is the process by which individuals and groups of people learn to promote, maintain and restore health. It is a process aimed at stimulating the wish to be healthy, to know how to stay healthy. The purpose of health education is to positively influence the health behavior of individuals and communities as well as the living and working conditions that influence their health.

Define the term nutrition.

  1. It is the science of food which helps an individual to develop a proper well being.
  2. The word nutrient is used for specific dietary constituents such as proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Dietetics is the practical application of the principles of nutrition. It includes the planning of the meal for the healthy and the sick.
  3. Good nutrition means maintaining a nutritional status that enables an individual to grow and enjoy good health.

Define the following:

Malnutrition

The condition where people become weak and sick due to insufficient and unbalanced diet is referred to as malnutrition.

Define and give one example of a balanced diet.

A balanced diet is a diet that provides all the essential nutrients—carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water—in the right proportions to maintain health, energy, and proper growth.

Example of a Balanced Diet:

A balanced meal could include Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats, Vitamins and Minerals and water.

Define balanced diet.

A balanced diet is a diet which contains an adequate amount of all the necessary nutrients like carbohydrate fat protein minerals and vitamins required for healthy growth and activity.
