Dear Diary,

Today was my first day in the cookhouse, and I cannot help wondering how I ended up here. I have always worked hard and taken pride in my knowledge. During our training, I often corrected my instructors and shared facts that I believed would help my fellow soldiers. However, my constant interruptions and eagerness to display my knowledge seemed to irritate both the officers and my fellow soldiers.

Yesterday, I was asked to report to the Permanent Base as an assistant in the cookhouse. At first, I was surprised and disappointed. I wondered why my efforts and knowledge were not appreciated. Today, while working in the cookhouse, I realised that being knowledgeable is not enough. Perhaps I should have been more sensitive to the feelings of others and avoided showing off.

I will continue to work hard, but I must also learn to be humble and respectful.
