Let x = 357.417          ...(1) 

Multiplying both sides by 1000, we get 

1000 x = 357417.417     ... (2)

By subtracting (1) from (2), we get

⇒ 1000x - x = 357417.417 - 357.417

⇒ 999 x = 357060

⇒ `x = 357060/ 999`

∴ 357.417 =`357060/ 999`

= `119020/333`
