Write the first five terms of the following sequence whose nth term is:

an = 2n2 – 3n + 1

an = 2n2 – 3n + 1 

Put n = 1

A1 = 2(1)2 – 3(1) + 1 = 2 – 3 + 1 = 0

Put n = 2

A2 = 2(2)2 – 3(2) + 1 = 8 – 6 + 1 = 3 

Put n = 3

A3 = 2(3)2 – 3(3) + 1 = 18 – 9 + 1 = 10

Put n = 4

A4 = 2(4)2 – 3(4) + 1 = 32 – 12 + 1 = 21

Put n = 5

A5 = 2(5)2 – 3(5) + 1 = 50 – 15 + 1 = 36
