Solution

According to Arrhenius ionic theory:
  1. An electrolyte dissociates in water to form free mobile ions which are cations and anions. The movement of these ions causes the flow of electric current through it.
  2. All ions bear an electric charge and are responsible for the flow of current through the solution.
  3. Electrolytic conductivity depends on the concentration of ions in the solution.
  4. The solution is always in electrolytic equilibrium since the total positive charge is equal to the total negative charge.
