Subject: Request for grants

Dear Sir,

I, Divya Tiwari, am a student of St Joseph’s High School. I have written this letter to highlight the problems we have been facing with regard to our school’s sports requirements. Our school runs on the donations of our kind-hearted patrons. Thanks to them, many of us have access to good facilities. Though our scholastic requirements are covered, we lag behind when it comes to sports facilities.
The lack of a school ground has limited the opportunities of many students who are interested in sports. The school cannot afford a sports ground or a Physical Training coach due to its modest budget. We request you to kindly consider our case for grants so that we can upgrade our facilities.

Thanking you,

Yours truly,
Divya Tiwari

Dear Vidya,

I received your letter yesterday and I read how you find it hard to stick to a schedule owing to the time constraints. Since then I have been thinking of ways to alleviate your problem. Therefore, I have written this letter to you to dish out some tips which had worked for me when I found myself in a similar situation.
It’s no surprise that a girl of your calibre has found herself in such a spot. From Kathak to slam poetry, from basketball to abacus, you have so many interests. Being the class topper, the onus of maintaining your reputation must also be bearing down on your shoulders. It is important that you learn the art of managing time so that you don’t have to sacrifice one interest to fulfil the other.
I advise you to assess your daily activities. Cut down on the Internet and television if these are taking up your time. Make a timetable to manage your activities. Practise abacus in the morning when your mind is fresh and basketball in the evening. On alternate days, follow the same system for Kathak and poetry. Spend two hours before sleep for studies. In this way you don’t have to compromise on doing the things you love and can also devote time for studies.
I sincerely hope that you find these suggestions helpful. Write to me whenever you find time.

Yours truly,
Divya
