1. A team scores when it successfully lands the ball on the opponent’s court, or when the opponent commits a fault or receives a penalty.
2. If the serving team wins the rally, it scores a point and serves again. If the receiving team wins, it scores a point and gains the right to serve.
3. A team may use a maximum of three hits to return the ball, in addition to a block.
4. A set, except the deciding fifth set, is won by the first team to reach 25 points with a lead of at least two points. If the score is tied at 24–24, play continues until one team leads by two points.
5. The deciding fifth set is played to 15 points, also requiring a two-point lead.
6. The team that wins three sets wins the match.
