1.	According to the 2011 census, the tribal population constitutes about 8.6 per cent of the total population. This population comprises about 427 tribal communities.	According to the 2011 Census, 31% of the population live in urban agglomerations/towns.
2.	They usually have a well-demarcated geographical territory. They live in clusters which are generally located in remote forests and hilly areas. The density of population is low.	An urban area or urban agglomeration is a human settlement with a high population density and infrastructure of built environment, categorised as cities, towns or suburbs.
3.	They are engaged in varied occupations such as hunting, fishing and food gathering of forest produce; basket making; weaving; iron smithing; etc.; and shifting cultivation, which is primitive in nature.	The occupation in urban areas is mainly non-agricultural, i.e. based on manufacturing, trade and commerce, professional and governance services, etc., which are modern in nature.
4.	They have independent traditions with respect to social customs, folklore, ecology and a belief system. Each tribe has its own dialect.	Urban areas are heterogeneous; people belonging to diverse groups, such as class, occupation, caste, language and religion, etc. – live in the same territory due to continuous migration. There are cultural diversities in cities.
5.	Major problems faced by tribal communities are alienation from forest land, poverty and indebtedness, Health and Nutrition, illiteracy, bonded labour, and shifting cultivation.	Major Problems faced by urban communities are urban sprawl, overcrowding, housing and slums, transport, beggary, Unemployment, urban crime, sewerage problems, and trash disposal.
