1. Caste is defined by sociologists through varna and jati. Class is based on financial position and education.
2. Members of various castes differ from each other in terms of their occupations, belief systems and religious practices. Members of various classes differ from each other in terms of their thinking patterns, choices, prejudices, dreams and hopes.
3. Since caste is determined by the birth, it is not possible to change it. Since class is determined by education and economic condition, it can be changed through efforts.
4. Division of people along the dimension of caste results in caste diversity. Division of people along the dimension of class results in class diversity.
