Solution

Heredity refers to the transmission of physical and psychological traits from parents to their children through genes. It plays a fundamental role in shaping a person’s physical characteristics, such as height, skin color, and eye color, as well as their mental abilities, personality traits, and health conditions.

From the moment of conception, a child inherits 46 chromosomes, 23 from each parent, which contain genes responsible for various traits. These inherited traits set the basic potential and limitations for development.

Heredity influences:

  • Physical growth and body structure
  • Intelligence and memory capacity
  • Temperament and behavior
  • Risk of genetic disorders and diseases

While heredity provides the foundation for development, it works closely with the environment to shape the full personality and behavior of a person. Thus, heredity plays a vital but not exclusive role in human development.
