Ziggurats were temple-tower, found in the sacred area of the city of Ur. They were monumental structures made from sun-baked bricks. They were dedicated to the patron god of the city. They were many stories high and ‘ decorated with tiles, precious stones, and marble. Ziggurats were also used as schools, granaries, and trade centers.
