When viruses enter our bloodstream, the B-lymphocytes respond by producing an army of proteins to bind to them. We refer to these proteins as antibodies. The host produces certain proteins called antibodies in reaction to an antigen. All antibody molecules are released from plasma cells and are immunoglobulins (Ig, γ-globulins).
