Solution

  1. The war did not bring down Nasser, and he became a much more respected leader of Arab nationalism. He became a hero to regular people.
  2. It was Egypt that stopped the Suez Canal. Because the Arabs cut off oil shipments to Western Europe, petrol rationing was implemented for a while.
  3. Britain was now weak and couldn’t conduct its foreign policy independently of the US.
  4. This gave the Algerians hope in their fight for freedom from France.
  5. Israel had some successes in the war. Even though she had to give back all the land she had taken from Egypt, she had seriously hurt Egypt by losing many men and tools, which took years to fix. In the meantime, the guerrilla attacks stopped, giving Israel a chance to strengthen its situation.
