Question
Why is the Deccan Plateau relatively dry during the rainy season?

Solution
The Deccan Plateau is relatively dry during the rainy season because it lies in the rain-shadow region of the Western Ghats. The Western Ghats block the moisture-laden monsoon winds coming from the Arabian Sea, causing heavy rainfall on the windward side and very little rainfall on the leeward side. So, the Deccan Plateau remains dry.
