Solution
People go to war for many reasons: to defend themselves or others, resist aggression, protect territory, pursue political or economic interests, or act on nationalism and ideology. War can sometimes achieve an immediate purpose—for example, the Allied victory in the Second World War helped defeat Nazi Germany and end its aggressive rule. However, such outcomes come at an immense human cost. The First World War brought enormous loss of life and suffering, yet did not create lasting peace; unresolved tensions contributed to another world war. Therefore, war may sometimes stop a greater injustice, but it rarely solves the underlying problems without leaving trauma, destruction and further divisions. Negotiation and diplomacy should be pursued wherever possible.
