Solution

Difference between `2 1/2` and `3 2/3 = 3 2/3 - 2 1/2`

= `11/3 - 5/2`

= `((11 xx 2) - (5 xx 3))/6`

= `(22 - 15)/6`

= `7/6`

= `1 1/6`

Sum of `1 1/2` and `2 1/4 = 1 1/2 + 2 1/4`

= `3/2 + 9/4`

= `6/4 + 9/4`

= `(6 + 9)/4`

= `15/4`

     3
`4")"overline15`
    12
      3

= `3 3/4` Here `1 1/6 < 3 3/4`

∴ Difference between `2 2/1` and `3 2/3` is smaller.
