Solution

At S.T.P., 1 mole of any gas occupies 22.4 L = 22,400 cm3.

Given:

Mass of Cl2 = 0.8 g

Molar mass of Cl2 = 71 g/mol

Calculate the number of moles:

Moles of Cl2 = `0.8/71`

Calculate the volume:

Volume = `0.8/71 xx 22400`

= 252.4 cm3
