Solution

The cell address of the merged cells will always be the address of the top-left cell of the originally selected range.

For example, if you select and merge a block of cells from A1 to C3 (which includes columns A, B, C and rows 1, 2, 3), Excel combines them into one large cell, and its official cell address will simply be A1. Any formula or data reference pointing to this merged area must use that top-left cell coordinate to fetch or calculate the data correctly.
