Solution
Maintaining an army in the past required many different resources. Weapons such as swords, bows, and later gunpowder-based artillery were necessary for battles. Soldiers and animals needed a regular supply of food, grains, and other provisions. Horses, elephants, and camels were used for transportation as well as warfare. Good roads and bridges helped armies move efficiently. The army was financed mainly through taxes and the wealth gained from military campaigns, which helped pay soldiers and maintain weapons and forts. Skilled artisans were also needed to make weapons, while labourers helped with transport, construction, and other military needs.
