Question
What is the correct procedure for mixing acid and water? Why?
Short Note
Solution
One has to be cautious while mixing concentrated inorganic acid with water. Always the acid must be added to the water gently. While adding acid to water, one has to keep stirring the mixture simultaneously. Water should never be added to acid as it generates a huge amount of heat and the mixture can splash out of the container and cause harm to the person handling it, causing bums.
