The term ‘motivation’ has been derived from the word ‘motive’. Motive means the urge to do something. It is an energising and activating force. Motive is that force within a person which makes him act or behave in a certain manner. Motive is the reflection of needs and wants. A manager offers some incentives to motivate employees. When the incentives satisfy their need and they feel inspired to work hard for achieving the desired goals, the employees are said to be motivated.
