Question

What is elastic collision of particles?

Short Answer

Solution

An elastic collision is a collision in which both the total linear momentum and the total kinetic energy of the particles are conserved. Thus, before and after the collision, the total momentum remains constant, and the total kinetic energy remains constant. In an ideal elastic collision, no kinetic energy is permanently lost as heat, sound, or deformation.
