Solution

A double-pole switch (commonly known as the Main Switch in household wiring) is a safety switch designed to connect or disconnect both the live wire and the neutral wire simultaneously.

Unlike a regular single-pole switch that only breaks the live wire, a double-pole switch cuts off both wires at the exact same time. It is installed immediately after the electricity meter at the main consumer unit to safely isolate the entire house from the electrical grid during repairs or emergencies.
