Solution
The following are the impacts of depletion of resources:
- Imbalance in nature: Our natural resources are our assets. They provide environmental balance and stability. Deforestation for agricultural purposes has significantly impacted natural balance. Overgrazing marginal regions at the desert’s edge leads to less rainfall.
- Shortage of materials: Indiscriminate resource consumption has resulted in a lack of material. Forests have been cleared for construction of cities, highways, and dams, resulting in a scarcity of materials that were formerly available. This has permanent effects on both the climate and environment.
- Struggle for existence: The global struggle for survival has gotten worse due to resource scarcity. Forest resources are limited, leading to competition among humans and animals. Various countries and nearby governments are fighting for control of a country’s natural resources.
- Slackening of economic growth: A country’s economic growth is dependent on its available resources. The depletion of resources has an unfavourable influence on economic growth. In the 1970s, India’s economic progress was hampered by a decrease in petroleum supply due to rising global prices.
