The Women’s Reservation Bill, which aimed to reserve 33% of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, took many years to become a law. It was first introduced in 1996 but faced several delays and challenges. After many attempts, the Bill was reintroduced in the Lok Sabha on 19 September 2023, leading to discussions about women’s representation in politics. Despite some differences of opinion, it was eventually passed by the Lok Sabha.
