Solution

  1. The tidings are that Brutus’ forces have defeated Octavius’ army and that Titinius has safely returned with good news. Titinius believes this will encourage Cassius.
  2. Cassius is found dead on the hill. He has killed himself after wrongly believing that Titinius had been captured by the enemy.
  3. Titinius shows his devotion by grieving deeply over Cassius’ death. He places the wreath of victory on Cassius’ head and later kills himself beside his friend.
  4. Titinius refers to the deed as ‘a Roman’s part’.
  5. At this point, Cassius appears tragic and unfortunate because he dies due to a misunderstanding. His act was not justified, as he acted too quickly without confirming whether Titinius had actually been captured. His lack of patience and loss of hope lead directly to his death.
