Solution

We have,

Three cubes, each with 5 cm an edge, are joined end to end.


If cubes are joined end to end, the dimensions of the resulting cuboid will be 15 cm, 5 cm, 5 cm.

Now we know that,

Total surface area of the cuboid = 2(l × b + b × h + h × l), where l is the length, b is the breadth and h is the height.

Then,

Total surface area of the cuboid = 2(15 × 5) + 5 × 5 + 5 × 15) cm2

= 2(75 + 25 + 75)

= 350 cm2
