  1. The popularity of the comedians: People laughed at Robichon even before he spoke, while Quinquart’s silence itself could make the audience laugh.
  2. Quinquart’s appearance and feelings: Although he was dressed like a buffoon on stage, he felt like Romeo because of his romantic feelings for Suzanne.
  3. Robichon’s pride: When he received the Marquis de Thevenin’s invitation, he became extremely pleased because he considered it an honour to be invited by a nobleman.
  4. The final twist: Robichon, who had successfully fooled the audience by pretending to be Jacques Roux, was himself fooled by Quinquart, who disguised himself as the Marquis. This reversal creates much of the story’s humour.
