Solution
Total price paid for T.V. = Rs 13,407
The rate of sales tax = 9%
Let sale price = Rs y
According to question
y + 9% of y = Rs 13407
`=> "y" + (9y)/100 = "Rs." 13407`
`=> (109"y")/100 = "Rs." 13407`
`=> "y" = (13407 xx100)/109 = "Rs." 12300`
New rate of sales tax = 13%
New total price for T.V. = Rs.12,300+ 13% of Rs.12,300
`= "Rs." 12300 +13/100 xx12300`
`= "Rs." 12300 + "Rs." 1599`
= Rs. 13899
More money paid = Rs. 13,899 – Rs. 13,407 = Rs. 492
