Solution

The hymen is a membrane that partially covers the vaginal entrance. The membrane is frequently torn during the first coitus (intercourse). However, it can be broken by a rapid fall, vaginal tampon insertion, or intensive engagement in activities such as horseback riding and cycling. In certain women, the hymen can continue even after coitus. Therefore, the presence or absence of a hymen does not indicate virginity or sexual experience.
