Solution

The mean weight of 6 children is 35 kg.

Total weight of 6 children = mean × number of children

= 35 × 6

= 210 kg

The mean weight of the 7 children is 36 kg.

Total weight of 7 children = mean × number of children

= 36 × 7

= 252 kg

Weight of the new boy = Total weight of 7 children − Total weight of 6 children

= 252 − 210

= 42 kg

The weight of the new boy is 42 kg.
