Question
Subtract the following expressions:
x4 + 3x3y3 + 5y4 from 2x4 – x3y3 + 7y4
Advertisements
Solution
We have, 2x4 – x3y3 + 7y4 – (x4 + 3x3y3 + 5y4)
= 2x4 – x3y3 + 7y4 – x4 – 3x3y3 – 5y4
On combining the like terms,
= 2x4 – x4 – x3y3 – 3x3y3 + 7y4 – 5y4
= x4 – 4x3y3 + 2y4
