- The light winter rain and snow from western disturbances supply soil moisture needed for rabi crops (especially wheat and barley) and help successful germination and growth.
- In the Himalaya and higher altitudes, the precipitation falls as snow, which helps maintain snow‑packs and feeds rivers and groundwater during the melt season.
- Area B (Coromandel coast of Tamil Nadu):
