State the working principle of a transformer.

According to the principle of mutual induction, the coil adjacent to it generates an emf whenever the magnetic flux associated with it varies. Applying an alternating voltage to the main coil causes constant changes in the current flowing through it. Because of this, the flow of the magnetic field through the core also changes. An emf is created in each coil because the changing magnetic flux is connected to both of them. The number of times the coil winds around itself determines how much magnetic energy it connects to.
