Solution
Three reasons are :
- Water has new properties than its constituents [i.e. H2 and O2]. H2 is a combustible gas, O2 gas is a supporter of combustion but water is liquid.
- In water hydrogen and oxygen, elements combine in fixed ratio by weight 1 : 8.
- Components of water i.e. H2 and oxygen can be separated by chemical means e.g. by electrolysis of water.
