Solution

Given:

x − y + 1 = 0

y = x + 1

x + y = 5

y = 5 − x

The two lines are:

y = x + 1

y = 5 − x

For y = x + 1

x y = x + 1 (x, y)
0 1 (0, 1)
1 2 (1, 2)
2 3 (2, 3)
3 4 (3, 4)
4 5 (4, 5)

For y = 5 − x

x y = 5 − x (x, y)
0 5 (0, 5)
1 4 (1, 4)
2 3 (2, 3)
3 2 (3, 2)
4 1 (4, 1)

The given pair of simultaneous equations is (x, y) = (2, 3)
